exposed zippers, TG.

Exposed zippers topped my list of favorite 2009 trends (like @ Proenza Schouler SS09) – and I’m glad to report they popped up at a few shows yesterday (read: they’ll still be around in 2010!)

With a collection full of bright lady-like dresses, I found myself more drawn to the three-piece outfits: slouchy blazers, structured mini jackets, and high-waisted shorts & skirts. Loving the jacket on Sigail… I want a closer look!

(I think at this point they stopped giving names for the models. These shall be… 7, 8 and 9)

Which chic cocktail parties would you wear these adorably embellished frocks to? The obvious ringer is the finale piece (the beautiful black tiered floor-length silouette worn by model number 9). My other favorites would have to be the 1920s-inspired flirty and fringe-y numbers on Viviane (that yellow is to die for!) & Adina (the beading looks so ornate).

LaMer_springgarden
(La Mer Spring Garden Watch, available exclusively at UrbanOutfitters.com)

I haven’t worn a watch consistently since my neon plastic Swatch watch in elementary school – and if I throw something on my wrist, it’s either a hairtie or a few statement bangles. However, La Mer Collections has swiftly changed my mind (read: got me OBSESSED) about watches.

Their chic and functional watch designs are like fine leather studded skinny belts that you can wrap around your wrist! Genius. The designs also come with charms or chains to add instant glamour to that naked wrist.

LaMer_tiedye
(Tie Dye Wrap Watch from the upcoming La Mer collection. It’s textured and inspired by pink roses)

These watches combine practicality with fashion – and you can pick from their collection of simple, layered, and chain wraps OR customize your own!

  • Pick a face (gold, silver, white, black);
  • Pick a leather strap color (any color imagineable in metallics, tie dyes, patents, etc.);
  • And lastly, pick a charm story (think: seaside seashells and anchors, vintage key charms, garden leaves – either in gold or silver).

dg_chainpearl
(Dolce & Gabbana, Style.com)

One of my favorite Fall 09 accessory trends is the tough love necklace: chunky chains mixed with delicate pearl, pretty rhinestones, and floral gems. As seen in Dolce & Gabbana and Marni Ready-to-Wear, I found some affordable versions to show a pretty side that’s rough around the edges.
